If an agency has received WSDA FA funding and is not getting an audit or is not required to (for example by an organization’s own policies, board, or other funders), then the organization must attend the Public Funding Leadership Series training. It is provided by WFC at no cost.

Who is required to take this training?

  • Organizations and tribes that have a current direct agreement with WSDA FA and are not already getting an audit for all fiscal years they are/were under agreement with WSDA FA.
  • Organizations and tribes that have a current Sub Agency Agreement with an organization that has a direct agreement with WSDA FA and are not already getting an audit for all fiscal years they are/were under sub agency agreement.

Which members of the organization should take the training?

If required to attend, at a minimum, one person from each agency in a Leadership role and/or providing fiscal oversight must take the 4-part Public Funding Leadership Series – either the online course or the annual instructor-led version (dates announced in the WFC newsletter). A leadership role includes titles such as the Executive Director, Fiscal Director, accountant, or bookkeeper.

Board members are welcome and especially encouraged to take the training, too.

Who is not required to take this training?

This does not apply to organizations and tribes that are required to have a Single Audit, obtain audits for their own purposes, or are required to by other granters/funders.

  • If an agency does not receive any Food Assistance funds or pass-through funds and receives only food (state or federal) through FA programs, they are not required to attend.
  • If an agency is not required to attend, we still highly recommend attending this training series.

When is the training offered?

The online version is always available – just sign up and complete it at your own pace. When you complete all modules, you’ll get a certificate and be entered in the registry.

The instructor-led training is offered annually. Watch the WFC newsletter for an announcement.
