Fresh Results Awards

We are thrilled once again to open nominations for our Fresh Results Awards, presented in partnership with WSDA (Washington State Department of Agriculture) since 2014! This is our chance to highlight the amazing and innovative work going on to bring farm fresh, healthy produce to hungry people throughout Washington.

We will award one program or project, and one outstanding farmer that exemplifies a commitment to farm fresh food and connecting that produce to those you serve at your programs. The program or project must be with a hunger relief agency that is currently a contractor or subcontractor with one of the WSDA Food Assistance Programs. This would be you if your agency receives and distributes TEFAP commodities, CSFP, or participates in EFAP.

Each award winner will receive a $500 grant a well as be highlighted with an official award presentation at the Washington Food Coalition annual conference in September.

Last year, the Bellingham Food Bank was honored with the Fresh Results awards for both their projects including The Garden Project, a annual effort that builds raised-bed gardens with low-income community members so they can grow their own produce. The Garden Project supports 60 households with seeds, plant starts, gardening resources, and mentoring. The other winner was Uprising Seeds. Uprising Seeds generous donation of hundreds of packets of seeds makes it possible for the Garden Project participants to choose a wide range of vegetables they’d like to grow. Participants not only increase the amount of fresh produce in their family’s diet, but they also get to interact with each other and the natural environment, get exercise, and have personal accountability in choosing and growing their own food.
