Advocacy Update: Building Our Collective Voice
At its September meeting, the Washington Food Coalition Board of Directors approved WFC's Advocacy Framework, an important step in guiding our advocacy work and shaping our legislative priorities moving forward.
The framework reflects WFC's commitment to bringing together hunger relief organizations and partners from across Washington to strengthen our collective voice, improve access to nutritious food, and support a strong, responsive hunger relief network.
Our advocacy work will focus on three key areas:
- Promoting Access to Nutritious Food: Supporting policies and programs that reduce hunger and improve access to nutritious food.
- Helping People and Communities Thrive: Supporting partners' efforts to strengthen services and policies that contribute to health, financial stability, and hunger-free communities.
- Supporting Responsive and Effective Public Investments: Advocating for effective investments in nutrition programs, Washington's hunger relief network, and programs that reduce hunger and poverty.
With this framework in place, WFC's Advocacy Committee will continue its work to identify and develop legislative priorities for the upcoming 2027 legislative session. Input from our members and partners across the state will be an important part of that process.
Upcoming Advocacy Training – November 2026
We're also planning an advocacy training in November to help members strengthen their knowledge and skills for engaging in advocacy. More information, including the date, time, and topic, will be shared soon.
As we move forward, we look forward to continuing to build connections, share perspectives, and strengthen our collective voice for hunger relief across Washington.
