Washington Food Coalition Announces Andra Smith as Executive Director
The Washington Food Coalition Board of Directors is pleased to announce Andra Smith as the new Executive Director of the food bank association.
Andra Smith has been the Executive Director of the Sequim Food Bank since 2016. Under her leadership, the organization’s budget has tripled, ensuring long-term financial stability and resilience. She has expanded and diversified food access programs to eight unique initiatives, providing greater availability and choice for community members through multiple distribution channels. In addition, Andra has been successful in securing significant grant funding and built a strong and efficient team of eleven staff and 250 volunteers, reflecting her commitment to fostering collaboration and building community capacity.
Andra shares, “It’s an honor to step into the role of Executive Director for the Washington Food Coalition. Having been part of this network for many years, I’ve seen firsthand the power of connection, shared learning, advocating together, and building strong relationships. This is especially important for rural communities like mine, where equitable access to food and resources can look different and requires thoughtful collaboration.”
Beyond the Sequim Food Bank, Andra has played a significant leadership role regionally and statewide. She currently serves as Treasurer of the Washington Food Coalition and previously was the Chair of the Board, the Olympic Peninsula Healthy Community Coalition, and the Clallam County Economic Development Council. She is also a founding partner and co-lead of the Sequim Health and Housing Collaborative and an active partner in several community initiatives, including the Peninsula Food Coalition and Sequim Cares.
Andra is recognized as a results-driven, community-focused leader who is deeply committed to strengthening access to nutritious food, fostering partnerships, and building sustainable systems that support both individuals and the broader community.
“I’m grateful for the foundation Trish has built and the care she’s brought to supporting members across the state”, Andra continues, “As I move into this role, I’m looking forward to listening and learning about the diverse needs across Washington, and understanding how the WFC can best support and expand this work. My goal is to elevate local voices, strengthen partnerships, and ensure the coalition remains a trusted resource for everyone working in our state’s hunger-relief system. Together, we will continue building a connected and resilient network.”
Andra will officially begin as Executive Director on February 25, 2026. Please join us in congratulating and welcoming her to her leadership role.
Sincerely,
