The Food Assistance Advisory Committee

The Food Assistance  Advisory Committee is comprised of representatives from the WFC board of directors and WFC members, as well Food Assistance providers and other interested community members. The Committee also includes staff from WSDA’s Food Assistance Programs.  All providers, including food banks, food pantries, tribal voucher providers and other partners have been encouraged to apply for membership. The purpose of the Food Assistance Advisory Committee is to provide broad stakeholder input and formal recommendations to the Washington Food Coalition Board and the Washington State Department of Agriculture’s (WSDA) concerning TEFAP, CSFP and EFAP programs.

The agenda is developed collaboratively by the Washington Food Coalition’s Executive Director, the Chair of the Committee and WSDA’s Food Assistance staff. Agenda items proposed by Food Assistance staff are given priority as this committee is primarily charged with providing recommendations to the WFC Board on policies, procedures and structural changes to the Food Assistance Programs.

The Food Assistance Advisory Committee meets a minimum of three times a year, prior to the corresponding quarterly Washington Food Coalition Board meeting. If needed, additional meetings may be held at the request of the Chair of the Committee.
